The B.A. in International and European Legal Studies is an English-taught degree in Prague designed for students who want to understand how law shapes international affairs, business, diplomacy, and society. Becoming an advocate for justice and law internationally, shaping the world we live in.

Students gain a strong foundation in international and European law while developing the analytical, research, and communication skills needed to succeed in a global environment. Whether pursuing careers in international organizations, diplomacy, government, NGOs, multinational companies, or further legal studies, graduates are prepared to make an impact in an increasingly interconnected world.

Throughout the program, students learn to interpret international treaties, EU legislation, and judicial decisions while developing legal analysis, logical reasoning, research, and advocacy skills. Combined with internships, Moot Court simulations, and close faculty mentoring, these experiences prepare graduates for careers in international organizations, EU institutions, multinational corporations, and law firms.

Courses are taught by a diverse and highly qualified faculty drawn from across Europe and beyond, combining academic expertise with extensive professional experience. This gives students the opportunity to learn directly from experts, engage with real-world case studies, and gain insights into how legal concepts are applied in international organizations, governments, businesses, and NGOs.

By studying international and European legal studies in Prague, students are surrounded by embassies, international organizations, NGOs, multinational companies, and legal professionals working across jurisdictions. AAU offers one of the region’s few English-taught international law and European Union law degrees. Students benefit from dual US and EU accreditation, internship opportunities, exchange programs, practical legal training, and faculty with extensive academic and professional experience.

Students put legal theory into practice through experiential learning opportunities, including internships, case studies, and Moot Court competitions. In Moot Court, students research legal issues, prepare written arguments, and present cases in simulated court proceedings, developing the advocacy, legal reasoning, and public speaking skills expected of legal professionals.

Complete a three-year bachelor’s degree in International and European Legal Studies while earning qualifications recognized in both the United States and the Czech Republic, with the Czech qualification also eligible for recognition in other EU member states. To graduate, students must accumulate 90 US/180 ECTS credits over the course of three years.

Having passed all the required and elective courses, students complete their studies by taking the graduation examination which includes a state exam covering the contents of the major module, a state exam covering the concentration module, and a thesis defense.

The International and European Legal Studies program offers graduates strong employment prospects across multiple sectors internationally, equipping them with a unique skill set that is highly sought after in today鈥檚 globalized job market, particularly in regions like the EU, where the interaction between national and supranational legal systems is crucial. In the context of the Czech Republic, the program provides graduates with the legal expertise to navigate both domestic and international legal frameworks. The degree awarded will be concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, as per AAU鈥檚 accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), and as a Bakal谩艡 (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, as per AAU鈥檚 accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). The Czech qualification can also be recognized in other EU member states. Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.
