Doc. Ayan Musil is a senior lecturer at Anglo-American University. She holds an MA in Political Science from Central European University (Budapest, 2005) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Bilkent University (Ankara, 2009). During her doctoral studies, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and spent a year at the Department of Government at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.). In 2019, she was a short-term visiting scholar at Stanford University, hosted by the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies.

She has been the principal investigator on two research projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) and has participated in two Horizon Europe projects as a member of the Czech research team led by the Institute of International Relations Prague. Her research focuses on the rise of far-right populist parties, democratic recession in Muslim and post-communist contexts, as well as opposition strategies and movements.

She is the author of two monographs, co-editor of three edited volumes, has published extensively in leading academic journals, and authored several policy papers and expert memos.
